Mariah Kinsman and Legend Finds the Feather are both 13-years-old and in seventh grade at Point Arena Elementary School. On the morning of Thursday, April 28, 2022, the pair fled their school on foot, hopped a bus south, and other than brief catches by surveillance cameras, there has not been a reliable sighting of the two since 3:00 p.m. that afternoon.
Jeanette Finds the Feather, Legend’s mother, has been working with a private investigator to track the children’s movements since embarking on their trip and understand their destination.
We have compiled a comprehensive timeline of the pair’s suspected movements on April 28th as described by the Santa Rosa Police Department, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, Jeanette’s mother along with her private investigator.
The pair took a Mendocino County Transit Bus from Point Arena departing around 8:00 a.m. and arriving in Santa Rosa arriving at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and Santa Rosa Police Department both assert the children were then next seen at Santa Rosa’s Coddingtown Mall. SRPD states that they were “last seen at the mall at approximately 3:30 p.m.” MCSO references the intel gathered by SRPD placing the pair at Coddingtown mall where they were reportedly “attempting to secure a bus trip to Fresno, California.”
Jeanette Finds the Feather, Legend’s mother disagrees with these findings. Having spoken with workers at the Coddingtown Mall about the reported sightings of the children and law enforcement’s investigation into the whereabouts of the children, Jeanette said they concluded the pair were there based on surveillance footage that does not actually resemble the children. She has yet to see a reliable image or video of the children at the Coddingtown Mall.
Instead, Jeanette, along with the assistance of a private investigator, determined that Mariah and Legend took the MTA to its final stop at Santa Rosa’s 2nd Street Transit Mall and then walked west to the SMART Train’s Santa Rosa Downtown station. Jeanette says surveillance footage places them entering the southbound route at 1:08 p.m.
The children then rode south, most likely getting off at the San Rafael Transit Center, near the Golden Gate Bus Station, where they were seen on surveillance footage entering a bus at 2:59 p.m. heading towards San Francisco. The footage showed Legend using an Acer laptop computer, dark gray in color, that belongs to Mariah.
This is the last known confirmed sighting of the pair, according to information gathered by Janette and her private investigator.
After that, the trail of Mariah and Legend goes cold.
In the first days of Mariah and Legend’s disappearance, there were claims that a security guard attempted to speak with the pair resulting in them quickly walking away from the inquiring adult and getting into a white SUV with an unknown caucasian woman.
Jeanette’s husband Rio went to Santa Rosa’s Coddingtown Mall hoping to find any evidence that placed her children at the mall and identified the woman in the SUV. He found none.
Instead, he was shown surveillance footage by employees of Baskin Robins who claimed depicted Mariah and Legend. A side-by-side comparison of the ice cream shop’s surveillance footage and images of Mariah and Legend shows two distinct pairs of children with little-to-no similarity.
Jeanette has learned more about the teenagers’ motives and plans when they left school on Thursday morning. Email communications between her son and his girlfriend indicate the pair had planned to embark on a road trip of sorts, using buses and trains to visit cities along the West Coast.
Jeanette said, “Their messages say the plan is to keep moving. The travel is the destination, in a way.”
The Finds the Feather family was set to move to Fresno in the next month, and these emails revealed their relocation set in motion Legend and Mariah’s plans to make the most of the short time they had together and experience the road.
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, in their press release regarding the missing children, reported the children were attempting to buy tickets to Fresno.
This would contradict the couple’s original motives to travel, as found by Jeanette, which stemmed from Legend’s imminent move to Fresno.
Jeanette expressed frustration at law enforcement’s investigation of the case. SRPD’s original press release stating the teens were at Coddingtown Mall was based on unreliable evidence, Jeanette said.
She did speak with an investigator with MCSO today and provided them with a review of the information she and her private investigator had tracked down.
Jeanette’s brother-in-law reached out to the San Francisco Police Department knowing that the last known footage of the teens indicated they were heading there. An officer said “if they are [here] we will find them.”
An image of the teenagers boarding a bus was released by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office providing the public with the clearest sense of what the teens left the school wearing. The image shows Mariah Kinsmanin blue skinny jeans, a red Adidas jacket, and a red bucket hat. Legend Finds the Feather appears to be wearing an olive green, hoodie-style sweatshirt, and black, high-top Vans.
Mariah Kinsman is 13 years old, 5′ 4″, and 125 pounds. Her hair is brown. She has “fair skin,” and is a member of the Pomo tribe.
Legend Finds the Feather is 13-years-old, 5’2″, and 110 pounds. He has blonde, shoulder-length hair, and blue/green eyes.

the news says they are Runaways when a child is labeled as a Runaway the police departments do not put their great efforts into finding the missing person!!! they also mentioned Fresno and here San Francisco where i live i will take myself in a sunday drive and head towards downtown i will check alleys and other places too! i was born and raised here in san francisco and know a lot of people i can spread the word they are missing and not runaways! it seems they decided to ditch school to adventure the big city for the day!! and now have lost their way!! keep strong and positive!! oh p.s. have they had access to chatting on line? you must check their computers!!!!
