The following is a press release issued by the Cotati Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Yesterday a man who was attempting a planned child custody exchange at the Cotati Police Department came into the building’s lobby reporting the mother of his child was driving drunk. This driver (Dorfer) in her green Lexus was seen in the parking lot of the police department. A police sergeant exited the building on foot ordering Dorfer to stop, however, Dorfer fled in the Lexus.

A second police sergeant who was on patrol saw the Lexus on W. Sierra Ave in Cotati. The sergeant attempted to stop the Lexus using lights and sirens but Dorfer would not pull over. Dorfer put her hand out her car window and displayed her middle finger to the sergeant. Dorfer stopped in the road on E. Cotati Ave near Marsh Way. When the police sergeant stopped behind her in the patrol car Dorfer put the Lexus in reserve accelerating and ramming the patrol car causing major damage to the car. The sergeant received minor injuries.

Dorfer accelerated east on E. Cotati with the police sergeant in pursuit driving the damaged patrol car, because Dorfer was driving at dangerous speeds almost hitting a motorcyclist the sergeant terminated the pursuit. Dorfer collided with two cars in Rohnert Park after the pursuit was terminated. With the assistance of Sonoma State University Police, Dorfer’s Lexus was found at a Convenience Store on E. Cotati Ave in Rohnert Park. Dorfer ran in the store and drank a travel size bottle of hard liquor. While taking Dorfer into custody she fought with officers. Additionally, she later bit a Rohnert Park police officer who was assisting Cotati Police with the DUI investigation.

Because the Cotati Police Sergeant is a victim of a crime, Rohnert Park DPS is investigating the Felony DUI. Dorfman’s preliminary evidentiary screening showed a .20% blood alcohol content.

The Lexus was impounded for 30 days.

Bail was set at $200,000, at the time of this post, she is still in custody.

  1. A caring judge immediately returned the child to it’s mother who walked out of the revolving door jail after 12 hours on no bail release?

  2. As mentioned in the article; this was a planned child custody exchange – where was the child? Perhaps the exchange had already been completed & the child was in dad’s custody? The charges didn’t include Child Endangerment – so hopefully child was in safe space.
