Extrication Underway After Vehicle Overturns on Highway 101 South of Hopland

Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate a single-vehicle collision on Highway 101 between Hopland and Cloverdale left a white sedan overturned in multiple northbound lanes.

The incident occurred at 5:12 p.m. in the northbound lane near the Geysers Exit. The vehicle reportedly crashed into the center divider and flipped over blocking the road.

The Incident Commander reported at 5:28 p.m. that a party is trapped in the vehicle requiring extrication. Medical personnel are standing by at the scene

The Caltrans Quickmap shows traffic in the area of the accident is impacted with the northbound moving slower than the southbound.

UPDATE 5:34 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the #2 lane of Highway 101 northbound is now open and traffic is moving.

The context of the information is unclear, but the CHP Information page offers information about the party in the vehicle: “the blood is showing” and “he was awake.”

UPDATE 5:51 p.m.: The Caltrans Quickmap indicates traffic is moving in the area. Some resources are being released from the scene and the Incident Commander canceled the air ambulance.

UPDATE 6:07 pm.: The patient has been transported to an out-of-county hospital, the roadway is clear, and the incident has been terminated.
