Tonight’s Sundays in the Park Concert Will be a Funky Reggae Party Ft. Arise Roots, Top Shelf, and DJ Seshwann

Summer is in full swing. In Ukiah, you’ll find hundreds of people wearing boogie shoes on Sunday evenings having a ball at the city’s annual Sundays in the Park concert series.

Tonight is no exception. The headliner is an outfit dubbed Arise Roots, a Los Angeles reggae collective that formed in 2010 determined to create a fresh, modern take on reggae while honoring its roots.

Top Shelf, a ska/reggae/hip-hop/punk mashup, came together 20 years ago when a couple of Mendocino County boys started jamming with some college buddies in Chico. Over the last two decades, Top Shelf has released four albums and toured the world. As life’s responsibilities took hold the band slowed down, but over the last year, the group has returned to the stage with gusto headlining Ukiah’s Skate Jam and the Top Shelf Christmas Party at Ukiah Brewing Company.

Another local performer, DJ Seshwann, will be the first act bringing his encyclopedia of vintage and current reggae hits to get the party started.

Good music, good food, and good times for all. Come out this evening at 6:00 to Ukiah’s Todd Grove Park and let loose at what will prove a funky reggae party.
