Traffic Stop Leads to Alleged Fentanyl Bust and Arrest of Two—One Accused of Bringing Narcotics Into Jail

The following is a press release issued by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.  The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On 07-05-2022 at 11:54 P.M., Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies were on routine patrol in the area of South State Street in Ukiah, California.

The Deputies observed a vehicle traveling the opposite direction as them and as the vehicle past, the Deputies identified Tobias Wood as a passenger in the vehicle.  The Deputies were familiar with Wood and knew him to have a felony warrant for his arrest.

The Deputies performed a traffic stop on the vehicle, which came to a stop in the 600 block of South State Street.

The Deputies contacted Wood and the driver, subsequently identified as William Kidd.  The Deputies observed Kidd moving items around inside the vehicle as they approached.  Wood was detained for the felony arrest warrant.

The results of a records check indicated that Kidd was on felony probation with terms to include a fourth amendment search waiver. Kidd was asked to step out of the vehicle and he was detained.

A search of the vehicle, per Kidd’s probation terms, revealed a commercial quantity of Fentanyl.

The Deputies continued their investigation, collected additional evidence and developed probable cause to believe Kidd was in possession of a controlled substance/narcotic for sales, Kidd was transporting a controlled substance/narcotic for sales and as a result, was in violation of his probation.

Both Kidd and Wood were arrested and transported to the Mendocino County Jail.

During the reception process, Wood attempted to enter the jail while concealing a controlled substance/Narcotic, resulting in an additional charge.

Wood was booked for 4573 PC (Felony – Bring Controlled Substance Into Jail), Felony Arrest Warrant, Misdemeanor Arrest Warrant. Wood was to be held in lieu of $105,000.00 bail.

Kidd was booked for 11351 HS (Felony – Possess Narcotic For Sale), 11352 HS (Felony – Transport Narcotic For Sale) and 1203.2 PC (Felony Violation Probation). Kidd was to be held in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.

  1. Hey Anne, what was that you were saying? Criminals are brown? Or only Hispanics? Or crossing our border? Hhahahaa funny stuff, you guys are all awfully quiet now huh

    • I bet these clowns got the drugs from a hispanic. If you deal / use meth fentanyl or heroine. In america. It very likely came over what was once a border with mexico. Look at the losers its perpetuating

      • Gee, I wonder where those cartels got their money from? Sounds to me like the invasion is from the north, headed south, where the money that American and European yuppies spend is funding narcoterrorism. But that would make the issue too complicated for your tiny brain to comprehend. I bet a puzzle with more than 4 pieces pisses you off, doesn’t it?

    • Yeah! Even though the election fraud was from insecure Trump voters, time and time again and proven by their own election audits. Oh sorry, I used facts instead of feelings.
