If You Value What We Do, Please Consider a Monthly Donation to MendoFever

Dear MendoFever Readers—

Matt LaFever here. Founder, editor, and lead reporter of MendoFever.

Here it is, a Sunday evening, and I’ve got a Bluetooth earbud tuning into the scanner as I prep some vegetables for the barbecue.

I, like you, am thankful the Bell Fire on Bell Springs road is getting handled. Our firefighters are getting damn good at this.

I’m still trying to figure out if there is actually a fire burning on 3rd Gate north of Willits. Stay tuned.

At the fire’s peak, we had over 500 readers on our website at once. If each of those readers donated just $5/month, we’d have the funds to pay for more, deeper coverage of this place we call home.

Like it or not, independent journalism like MendoFever is the future of Mendocino County journalism. We have a lot to learn, but we also have a lot to offer.

Please, consider making a monthly donation. Your sustained giving helps us budget our freelancer pay better and provides the continuity we need to be successful.

I like to think of myself as a reporter for the Average Joe. Journalism has become a craft defined largely by city dwellers on America's coasts. It’s time to take it back. I have been an Emerald Triangle resident since 2006 and this is year ten in Mendocino County. Please, email me at matthewplafever@gmail.com if you know a story that needs to be told.
