[UPDATE: Roadway Clear]Sedan Strikes Animal on Highway 101—Northbound Lane Blocked Near Ridgewood Summit

Around 9:20 p.m., scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicated a sedan struck an animal on the northbound lane of Highway 101 north of CALFIRE’s Howard Forest Station near the Ridgewood Summit.

The vehicle is reportedly blocking the slow lane. There are no injuries. Traffic control is being established to secure the scene while a tow truck makes it to the area.


UPDATE 9:59 p.m.: The Caltrans Quickmap indicates the roadway is clear and traffic is flowing smoothly in the area.

Scanner traffic confirmed that the animal involved in the collision was a deer.
