Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate first responders are on the scene of a traffic collision on Ukiah’s Low Gap Road after a single vehicle drove off the roadway and ended up 200′ feet below in a creek bed.

Initial reports came in at about 1:15 p.m. Once on scene, The Incident Commander reported that two parties were able to self-extricate and climb up the hill. They will be working to establish a rope rescue system to search for others.

UPDATE 1:47 p.m.: There are a total of four patients, all with minor injuries.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

I like to think of myself as a journalist for the everyman. Journalism has become a craft practiced largely by the urban elite. It’s time to take it back. I have been an Emerald Triangle resident since 2006 and this is year ten in Mendocino County. Please, email me at matthewplafever@gmail.com if you know a story that needs to be told.
