Scanner traffic beginning around 1:25 p.m. indicates that firefighters are en route to a vegetation fire, known as the Knights Fire, burning near the intersection of Highway 128 and Biggs Ranch Road in the hills east of Healdsburg.
Air resources are reporting the fire as 2-3 acres in size growing at a slow rate of spread. They estimate the fire has the potential for 10 acres. There is one structure considerably out in front of the fire that they said was “not immediately threatened.”
The Alert Wildfire Camera on St. Helena shows a plume growing in the area.
UPDATE 1:39 p.m.: Multiple aircraft are attacking the Knights Fire from above.
UPDATE 1:57 p.m.: Grounds units are at the scene working the as they await the arrival of the first dozers.
A view of the fire from the St. Helena Alert Wildfire Camera shows the plume has not intensified since the initial call out.
UPDATE 2:13 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported that there are no evacuations expected from this incident. In terms of resources, there will be no more required than what was initially dispatched.
The smoke from the incident continues to diminish significantly.
2:18 p.m.: Resources in the air are reporting the fire is five acres in size and rapidly approaching containment.
UPDATE 4:14 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the Knights Fire is officially contained and crews will be mopping up throughout this afternoon and into the evening.
