The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol, Ukiah Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On 07/26/2022 at approximately 2235 hours the Ukiah area California Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The suspect vehicle pulled to the right shoulder of northbound US-101 near the Plant Road overcrossing. The suspect vehicle then accelerated at a high rate of speed away from the traffic stop, CHP pursued the suspect vehicle from the Plant Road overcrossing to the Gobbi Street off-ramp within the city limits of Ukiah. The suspect vehicle was unable to navigate the turn at the off-ramp and subsequently ran off the road, colliding head-on with a tree. CHP officers were able to detain the suspect driver, who was later identified as Ryan Loomis. Loomis was transported by CHP Officers to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley for a medical evaluation of suspected moderate injuries, Medical personnel at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley determined Loomis needed to be transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for further evaluation. Loomis will be charged with the above charges which include driving under the influence and evading arrest.
