On 09-29-2022 Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the North Sector were dispatched to contact a resident of Laytonville regarding a missing person’s report.

The reporting person reported Aaron Vossler had been traveling with a friend known only by a nickname.  The pair left Laytonville on 09-26-2022 in a black Toyota Prius and they were supposed to be traveling to a known address in the City of Ukiah.  Vossler did not return home and the reporting person contacted his friends in an attempt to locate him.

The reporting person learned from one of Vossler’s friends that he never arrived at the reported destination in Ukiah and Vossler had not made any recent social media posts which was unusual.

A missing person’s report was taken at that time with the Deputies conducting follow up investigation in an attempt to locate Vossler.  Deputies started to hear rumors that Vossler had possibly been the victim of foul play however they had a difficult time substantiating any of the information.

Sheriff’s Detectives began to assist the Patrol Deputies throughout the weekend and on 10-03-2022, they were able to contact someone who possibly had seen Vossler just prior to his disappearance.

This person was identified as Christopher Franklin Hill and he was contacted at a family member’s residence in the 8200 block of East Side Road in Potter Valley, California.

While at the location, Sheriff’s Detectives along with a Patrol Sergeant interviewed Hill and they were able to observe evidence of a possible violent crime in and about Hill’s vehicle.  A search warrant was obtained for the residence and Hill’s vehicle.

During the search warrant service on 10-03-2022, human remains were located in a shallow grave on the property.

Hill was subsequently booked into the Mendocino County Jail on the charge of murder as a result.

The scene was maintained by Sheriff’s Office personnel throughout the night until the morning of 10-04-2022.

Crime Scene specialists from the California Department of Justice assisted the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, Mendocino County Major Crimes Task Force and Investigators from the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office in processing the crime scene, which included exhuming the human remains from the grave.

Once exhumed, the remains were identified as being Vossler.

This investigation is ongoing, and any persons who may have information about this incident are encouraged to contact the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Investigative Services Unit by calling the Sheriff’s Office Tip line at (707) 234-2100 or the WeTip anonymous crime reporting hotline at 1-800-782-7463.

  1. Where’s the suspects description of what happened? Let’s get the whole story. Was it a meat cleaver, or machete, or a gun? What was the disagreement?

    • And yet this same god could also have prevented another youth from dying. Get the fuck out of here with that invisible dude in the sky bible bullshit!

      • 🌬🍃(@Jesus H. I can’t see the wind it’s but I know it’s there and I feel it’s effects. 🤔 God may be invisible to you cuz you’re not looking with your spiritual eyes. 🌪 Most people believe in God.

      • Manasseh, king of Judah, was certainly a cruel tyrant. His story is told in 2 Chronicles 33. He was an idolater who turned against God and worshiped every kind of pagan deity. Manasseh was guilty of immorality, he practiced every conceivable evil and perversion, devoted himself to witchcraft and was a murderer; even sacrificing his sons to a pagan god.

God’s judgment fell on Manasseh. He was bound in chains and taken away to Babylon. But that is not the end of his story. While the wicked king was confined in the dungeon he had time to think, and Manasseh began to pray. This man who deserved Hell cried out to God for forgiveness — and God

Just about anybody can be forgiven

      • This is a very sad situation Tina. God sees all. And knows all of our evil deeds. Yes, He will forgive those who are truly sorry and who turn completely away from their sinful ways. God commands us to forgive as well. The Bible says if we forgive others God will forgive us. And visa-versa. If we do not forgive we will NOT be forgiven for our sins. That is a hard thing to do sometimes but we must try. We don’t know the details of this situation and we should not judge. God will be the One to judge. Both lives ruined here, such a tragedy. This never should’ve happened. My condolences and prayers for both families. One young life gone way too soon and another life ruined.

    • God’s mercy is so vast and beyond our comprehension because He responds to repentant hearts. Not everyone is thrown in prison for their disobedience to God. In Manasseh’s case, imprisonment was turned to blessing because he found the Lord. We dare not neglect God’s warning to repent today, because everyone will not have a prison conversion. “He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy” (Proverbs 29:1). But God’s mercy can be ours.
