A single-vehicle collision this evening near Boonville resulted in a fatality.

Scanner traffic beginning around 5:14 p.m. indicated a single vehicle went off a steep embankment near mile marker 31.5 of Highway 128.

Within fifteen minutes of the first reports, first responders found the driver had died in the accident.

This is the second fatal traffic accident in Mendocino County today. A driver died on Highway 101 south of Leggett earlier this afternoon.

  1. Drove 128 today in the rain, you always have to be careful when you have to drive in the rain the first time in the fall as traction is much less and it is easy to drive too fast for conditions. Condolences to the family.

I like to think of myself as a journalist for the everyman. Journalism has become a craft practiced largely by the urban elite. It’s time to take it back. I have been an Emerald Triangle resident since 2006 and this is year ten in Mendocino County. Please, email me at matthewplafever@gmail.com if you know a story that needs to be told.
