Scanner traffic this evening indicates a vehicle struck a cyclist near the intersection of Ukiah’s South State Street and Laws Avenue resulting in significant injury and requests for an air ambulance.

Initially dispatched at 5:27 p.m., the Incident Commander reports that the southbound lane of South State Street is blocked as emergency personnel evaluate the scene.

When the Incident Commander first arrived on the scene they assessed the patient as a “possible 1144” meaning deceased, but fifteen minutes later they were transported to the hospital for care.

  1. I have had so many close calls in Ukiah. Cars refuse to yield to bicycles and police refuse to inforce failure to yield laws.
I ride like I’m in a combat zone.

  2. The local police refuse to issue tickets for anything, speeding in residential zones, driving while using a cell phone, failure to stop at stop signs, failure to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. Where are they any way? And if you complain to city hall, if you can get past dispatch, well, its a lesson in futility. NO ONE LISTENS. NO ONE. Meantime we pay and pay and pay, taxes, etc. NO ONE CARES!! Just scrape another body up off the pavement and pretend we are the number one small town in America.
