Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate traffic is stopped on Highway 101 on the north end of Ukiah after a man jumped from the North State Street overpass onto the major thoroughfare.
The victim reportedly fell into the southbound slow lane of the highway. A reporting party stated the man appears to have minor injuries described as road rash and a first responder stated he is breathing and alert.
UPDATE 5:33 p.m.: The southbound, slow lane of Highway 101 has officially been shut down as first responders tend to the patient. An air ambulance has been deployed to potentially pick up the patient from Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Hospital.
The Caltrans Quickmap shows traffic is heavily impacted in both the north and southbound lanes of Highway 101.
UPDATE 5:40 p.m.: Personnel on scene specified the party lept off the Orr Springs Road overpass, just north of the North State Street exit.
UPDATE 5:55 p.m.: The patient has been transported to a local hospital and the Caltrans Quickmap indicates Highway 101 is now open and traffic is flowing smoothly.
UPDATE 6:18 p.m.: A witness reached out and told us that despite initial reports, the patient was a woman.

Well North State does not go over 101 there, it’s 101 that goes over N. State at that location with on and off ramps. So it looks like this person made his way up the on ramp and then fell or jumped down to State St below.

The victim jumped from the Orr springs road overpass onto highway 101. This location is north of state street on 101 where 101 goes under 2 bridges. (Orr Springs Road and Masonite Logging Road)
