The following is a press release issued by the Santa Rosa Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty::
On December 1st, 2022, a cannabis delivery driver made a delivery to the City of Oakland and received a cash payment in return. The delivery driver drove back to Santa Rosa after completing the delivery. At approximately 4:40 p.m. the driver pulled onto Piner Place. A black Audi sedan pulled up directly behind the van and lightly rear ended it. The delivery driver stopped the van and exited to check for damage. Once outside of the van, the driver observed two Black male adults coming towards the van. One of the males appeared to be holding a handgun. The delivery driver could also see what appeared to be two other Black male adults still inside the Audi. The delivery driver realized he was being robbed and quickly ran away from the van. As he was running, he could see the two suspects enter his van and take items. The suspects returned to the Audi and quickly fled in the direction of Highway 101. The driver returned to the van and found the cash and other items were taken.
At this time, SRPD detectives are investigating the incident and looking for anyone who witnessed the robbery or has information that would assist with the case. Anyone with information about the investigation is encouraged to contact SRPD through our online tip line: www.srcity.org/CrimeTips

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund. The reward is for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in this robbery.

If there was alcohol delivery trucks that drove around taking cash payments in unarmored vehicles they’d have issues too. But we have drunk driving, domestic abuse and bar fights instead and no one gives a shit. I was just at a 9 year old’s party that served alcohol. They weren’t serving weed, but they were driving their kids home buzzed on alcohol.
And cannabis is still not legal in many states. However there are cannabis smokers in all those illegal states. Wonder where they get it.
Part of legalizing MJ and sales law is NOT being able to have a conceal & carry permit, Yet a liquor and a jewelry store owner can.
Yes we are rationing water to our food farmers.and paying them to leave fields unplanted But all the dope patches and vineyards are lush and green. We are reaping the reward of our choices Im not for alcohol either If we dont start teaching our children good things. By example. Theres no hope of a good future
Cannabis delivery from Santa Rosa to Oakland, must have been supplying a dispensary in Oakland. So it’s probably a large amount of cash/products that was taken. Inexperienced driver too. Common bump and rob method used to carjack and rob drivers.
Weed is still illegal federally. That means these weed businesses can’t bank. Its an all cash business. Makes for easy pickens for robbers.
