IMPORTANT UPDATE 10:25 a.m.: Caltrans has updated their post stating, “Oops! Update: U.S. 101 is not closed. In fact, it is fully open…Route 1 IS closed near Russian Gulch State Park at PM 53.04 in Mendocino County due to downed power lines.”
So Hwy 1 is closed near Russian Gulch. Hwy 101 is actually open.

Hwy 1 is full closure now Weds afternoon just south of Big River according to CalTrans map. No way to drive south from Mendocino, have to go on Hwy 20 over to 101. May reopen after 5:00 pm Dec. 28.
