[UPDATE: 11:57 p.m.]A Stabbing in Covelo Leaves Woman With Head Wounds—Law Enforcement Responding

Scanner traffic beginning at 10:14 p.m. indicates a Covelo woman has been stabbed in the head and is actively hiding from her attacker.

The victim was reportedly attacked by another woman who is accompanied by two men. She left the immediate area where the attack occurred.

Round Valley Tribal Police, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, and medical personnel are en route to the area. Medics are being asked to stage on Howard Street.

We are choosing to not disclose the victim’s location so as not to inadvertently tip off where she is hiding and waiting for law enforcement.


UPDATE 10:34 p.m.: Medical personnel is staging in the area and Round Valley Tribal Police is on scene


UPDATE 10:49 p.m.: Law enforcement has coordinates specifying the location of the stabbing victim.

UPDATE 10:56 p.m.: The dispatcher attempted to call the victim directly via cell phone and reported to deputies he heard a woman in distress before she hung up.


UPDATE 11:08 p.m.: Dispatch reported that Tribal Police is still searching for the victim, MCSO is still making its way to the scene, and medical continues to stage waiting for law enforcement to secure the scene.


UPDATE 11:26 p.m.: For unknown reasons, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputy at the scene canceled medical personnel staging at the scene.


UPDATE 11:34 p.m. Dispatch conveyed to officers in Covelo he had just received a 911 call from a resident who located a woman outside their residence with a cut on the back of her head. She is reportedly refusing medical care.


11:57 p.m.: Deputies in Covelo and the dispatcher are exchanging information about two subjects located in the area suggesting law enforcement suspects they are possibly involved in the incident. MCSO canceled further back up to the area but there is not yet word the stabbing victim had been located.
