The following is a press release issued by the Ukiah Police Department. This has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Peter Guerrero [Mugshot from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office]

On March 12, 2023, at approximately 1731 hours, Clearlake Police Officers responded to Walmart located at 15960 Dam Road regarding reports of a male assaulting another male with a hammer outside of the garden department.

When the officer arrived they located a victim who was suffering from injuries consistent with being assaulted with a blunt object.  Officers provided medical aid till medical personnel arrived on scene.  The victim was transported to Adventist Health emergency room and later transferred out of county for further medical treatment.

Officers also located and positively identified the suspect as 29-year-old Cobb resident Peter Guerrero.  Peter peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation revealed the victim was walking into Wal-Mart when the suspect attacked him from behind.  The suspect hit the victim, which caused him to fall.  Once the victim fell to the ground, the suspect continued to strike the victim with a hammer.

The victim and the suspect were related (Father and Son).  The suspect admitted to bringing the hammer with the intentions to kill his father in public.

  1. If something like this were to happen at the Ukiah Walmart, no one would have noticed and the guy could have lied out there for days. There is never anyone working in that department and nobody would have cared.
