On 03/22/23 at approximately 1611 hours, a silver Jeep was traveling southbound on US-101 near the Ridgewood scales in inclement weather. Due to the roadway conditions, the driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and veered out of control, into the northbound lanes of US-101 directly into the path of a silver Hyundai, traveling northbound on US-101 at the time. As a result, the Jeep collided with the Hyundai causing major injuries to two involved parties, minor injuries to another. The driver of the Hyundai sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Following the collision, all other parties were transported to Howard Memorial Hospital for their injuries.

  1. Hundreds of folks drove the same road in the same conditions WITHOUT losing control of their vehicle. I went down the grade in same area during intense downpours about an hour before the wreck. I slowed way down so I COULD maintain control in the conditions I was in. The driver of Jeep IMO was too fast for the conditions, thus at fault.

    • Got to agree…..you learn this in drivers Ed. Its ridiculous to state due to road conditions he lost control. No he was traveling in a way that was in appropriate for the road conditions. Too fast and you hydroplane. From what I understand he was going above speed limit..definitely not taking Into consideration weather and road conditions :
