The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On 05/19/2023 at approximately 2050 hours, Party #2, (Pending) was driving a Special Construction Motorcycle (Vehicle #2) along with passenger Jessica R. Rehder, eastbound on SR-281, west of Fairway Drive, at an unknown speed. Party #1 (Pitto), was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram (Vehicle #1) towing a boat trailer, westbound on SR-281 west of Fairway Drive, and turning left into the Riviera Market entrance at approximately 10 mph. For reasons yet to be determined, Party #1 turned Vehicle #1 left across the westbound lane, directly in the path of Vehicle #2. As a result, Vehicle #1 and Vehicle #2 collided. After of the collision, Party #1 sustained no injuries, Party #2’s passenger sustained major injuries, and Party #2 sustained fatal injuries. Party #1 was wearing his seat-belt. Party #2 and his passenger were both wearing helmets at the time of the collision. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the crash. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
