Yesterday, May 29, 2023, the late-spring sun shined on dozens of Ukiah’s veterans gathered at the Russian River Cemetery to celebrate Memorial Day. In speeches and prayer, participants remembered and mourned the men and women who have given their lives fighting for the United States of America.

The local Veterans of Foreign Wars Ukiah Post 1900 and American Legion Lewis White Post 76 organized the event.

As our community returns to work rested after a long holiday weekend, consider the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt: “Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy forget in time that men have died to win them.”
