[UPDATE]Horseback Riding Accident Near Laytonville Leaves Rider with Major Neck Injury

An ATV Rollover horseback riding accident near Laytonville left a rider with a major neck injury this afternoon requiring an air ambulance to be deployed to the scene.

Around 2:00 p.m. scanner traffic indicated bystanders who witnessed the rollover accident watched the rider fall on his neck.

Medical personnel who arrived on the scene described using a neck brace to stabilize the rider’s neck who was displaying signs of labored breathing.

The incident occurred somewhere in the vicinity of the Shamrock Ranch which will be used as the landing zone.

At 2:53 p.m., the Incident Commander reported that the air ambulance was airborne with the patient on board.

UPDATE 4:37 p.m.: The owner of the property where the accident occurred reached out to tell us the incident did not involve an ATV but a horse. She said the property she owns is a working ranch and a rider fell off a horse landing in the area of his head/neck.
