Authorities Investigating Suspected Arson Fires in Ukiah

Categories:

Two small vegetation fires ignited around 8 o’clock near the North State Street overcrossing along Highway 101 this morning in Ukiah and authorities suspect arson to be the cause.

Ukiah Valley Fire Authority Battalion Chief Justin Buckingham told us one of the fires was started under the overpass and the other long Highway 101. Both of the fires burned less than a quarter acre.

Buckingham is Mendocino County’s lead fire investigator and he told us there are no suspects or leads at this point in the investigation. He is still at the site of the fires analyzing evidence.
