On July 1, 2023, at approximately 1635 hours, Maureen Gagne was driving a 2013 Polaris Ranger, side-by-side ATV north on a dirt trail on private property at 4350 Young Creek Road. For reasons still under investigation, Gagne ran off the road and the Polis overturned onto its left side, on top Gagne. Ukiah Valley Fire Ambulance personnel responded and attempted life-saving measures but Gagne succumbed to injuries sustained. Both passengers were uninjured in this collision. Alcohol and/or drug impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor to this collision. The cause of this collision is still under investigation by the Ukiah CHP.
