
Emergency personnel are working to extricate a motorist who suffered moderate to major injuries this afternoon after their vehicle went off an embankment west of Willits along State Route 20 and landed on its roof. Ground and air ambulance have been requested to the scene.
The Incident Commander told dispatch that the vehicle landed 300′ down the embankment. He reported that while the occupant who self-extricated experienced only minor injuries, the entrapped female occupant has wounds consistent with moderate to major injuries.
Originally reported around 5:41 p.m., the incident occurred when a vehicle went off State Route 20 around nine miles west of Willits.
UPDATE 6:29 p.m.: The Incident Commander told dispatch rescue crews successfully extricated the injured occupant and hauled them up 300′ feet to the road.
The air ambulance has been directed to meet first responders at Howard Hospital in Willits rather than land near the crash scene.
