A man has reportedly jumped from a rock into the Eel River along State Route 162 and afterward stopped ‘moving,’ according to the dispatcher relaying information from witnesses at the scene.

First responders are converging on the scene, an air ambulance has been requested, and a swift water team is being deployed in the area.

Scanner traffic around 4:50 p.m. indicated the incident is located along State Route 162 near mile marker 12.25

A caller relayed to dispatch the subject is approximately 14′ underwater and appears unconscious.

UPDATE 5:36 p.m.: The Incident Commander told dispatch water rescue efforts would shift to recovery which means emergency personnel believe the individual is deceased. Our hearts go out to those who have lost a loved one and emergency personnel who are helping recover the deceased.
