A collision in Lake County between a big rig and a pickup truck has proven fatal this afternoon.

Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page indicate the collision occurred near the intersection of State Route 29 and Diener Drive west of Lower Lake around 12:05 p.m. The pickup reportedly struck both the big rig and a tree, leaving lanes littered with branches and vehicle debris.

Moments after the collision first responders were deployed “code blue” indicating an emergency medical circumstance. Sadly, an involved party was declared deceased upon arrival at the scene.

The Caltrans Quickmap indicates that traffic is still heavily affected in the west and eastbound lanes of State Route 29.
