A Holiday Message From the Velvet Bandit for Mendocino County: ‘Be Brave With Your Life’

The latest art from the Velvet Bandit [Picture from Velvet herself}

MendoFever’s favorite street artist the Velvet Bandit installed her latest piece along a stretch of Highway 101 near Ukiah this weekend reminding northbound drivers of the fleeting preciousness of life.

In bold blue-green, Velvet’s latest piece is a call to action: “Be Brave With Your Life”. The anthemic slogan is bookended by flowers with fuscia petals.

Velvet has made quite a name for herself throughout the North Bay with her paste-up style of street art. Her art is colorful, punny, striking, and bold often offering thoughts of encouragement or optimistic resistance.

By day she works as a lunch lady and by night she becomes the Velvet Bandit. She paints her images and text in her garage and uses a biodegrable paste to display them on drab civic infrastructure.

Can you tell us exactly where the Velvet’s latest piece can be found?
