The following is a press release issued by the Ukiah Police Department. This has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On 12/05/2023 at approximately 0415 hours, a City of Ukiah employee notified Ukiah Police Department (UPD) officers about two vehicles that appeared to have been tampered with on City of Ukiah property. It was determined the vehicles belonged to the City of Ukiah. In addition to the open vehicle doors, various tools were located in the nearby bushes. In speaking with the witness, the suspect, later identified as James Morrison, had left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival. During the investigation, it was discovered that Morrison had forced entry into a fenced enclosure that is attached to a building belonging to the City of Ukiah. Video surveillance of the incident shows Morrison leaving with bicycles and several other items.
On 12/05/2023 at approximately 1523 hours, a UPD officer was on patrol near North State Street and Lake Mendocino Drive, when he observed Morrison riding a bicycle that resembled the one stolen earlier in the day. The officer contacted Morrison to further investigate the burglary. Records check on Morrison revealed he was on Pre-Trial release with a term of “obey all laws.” Morrison was also found to have an active felony warrant out of Santa Barbara County for his arrest. Records check on the bicycle Morrison was riding was a positive match for the bicycle that was stolen during the burglary. Additionally, Morrison was found to be in possession of several stolen tools.
Morrison was placed under arrest for the above listed charges and he was transported to the Mendocino County Jail.

I feel like bikes should be free, like how there’s free cell phone kiosks? Free bikes too.
Please keep your feelings (and hands) off my bike.
I depend upon my bike and I worked hard to afford it and continue to work hard to maintain & keep it in good shape.
I didn’t say bike stealing should be free. I said bikes should be free
Bike Lovers Matter.
Also wack boom ouch
Omg this cracks me up first bike bandit caught???? Hey let me give all Leo locals a tip. Not trying to be a colorist profiler… however perhaps yall should focus on the black ones. That seems to be the preferred paint job of our local bike jacking crew. And to think he’s small fish taking big fish charges. Bummer deal
Just to give perspective into my sarcasm in my last post.
This stems from the response and indignation i was met with when trying to report who was responsible for a fire behind the fairgrounds along the rail tracks a few years back. Living homeless at the time I watched a woman (who I identified and named) as the arsonist. To both fire and law personnel when they arrived on scene. Start the fire. Having no phone at the time I did the first thing I could. I started yelling thru the chain linked fence to anyone within earshot. Trying to get the attention of any one of the multiple rvs living at the fairgrounds. I did thank the lord before major damage was done. However to think this county has hadva innocent man( of this crime not all crimes) convicted for her crimes. Not only convicted but framed. Without any remorse or 2nd thought sickens me.
