As part of the Big River Quarry restoration plan, CA State Parks is working with
CalTrans to utilize soil excavated from the Hwy 1 repair project at Juan Creek to fill the
abandoned quarry.  Trucks will be transporting material along the M1 road in Big River
through the end of August. The project schedule is Monday-Friday between 7AM and
6PM.  No work will occur during the weekends.  This area will remain open to the public,
but caution is advised when signage is present.  This project will benefit the public by
filling the quarry with native soil and reducing the amount of carbon emissions that
would be created by transporting this soil to sites further inland.

For your safety, please remain aware of your surroundings and move to the shoulder
when trucks are present.
