Law enforcement is converging on a rural road northwest of Willits following reports of an incident where a property owner confronted a trespasser.

The trespasser allegedly rammed the property owner’s silver truck with their Ford Taurus and subsequently fired a shot at them.

Scanner traffic began around 9:00 p.m., indicating that the incident occurred near the 21000 block of Blue Lake Road. The California Highway Patrol requested assistance from Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office deputies to respond to reports of shots fired and a car ramming.

As of publication, CHP officers and MCSO deputies are in the area looking for the suspect vehicle with reports from dispatch multiple Blue Lake Road residents had called in saying a grey Ford Taurus suspected to be associated with the incident driving around.

UPDATE 9:39 p.m.: Scanner traffic indicates law enforcement seems to have tracked the suspects down to a residence on Blue Lakes Drive but they are refusing to come out of the house.  MCSO deputies are en route to back up CHP as they attempt to detain the suspect.

  1. And here we have yet another stellar example of some good old-fashioned sportin aka private destruction derby in the land of Mendo-Love that has gone awry.
At least no one was reported to be shot.
Maybe the shooter was firing blanks?
