
A hayfield is on fire in Potter Valley this afternoon prompting a multiagency firefighting response.
The latest reports as of 4:59 p.m. indicate the fire is 2 acres in size burning at a moderate rate of spread driven by western winds.
The initial dispatch occurred around 4:40 p.m. requesting Potter Valley Fire Department respond to the 12000 block of Eel River Road after dispatch received reports of an active vegetation fire in the area.
As Potter Valley fire personnel approached the incident, they reported a significant amount of smoke emitting from the area and requested CAL FIRE dispatch resources to assist in firefighting efforts.
UPDATE 5:12 p.m.: The Incident Commander said the fire’s forward progress has been stopped, the flames are contained and estimates the incident will be mopped up within an hour.
