Authorities have identified a woman whose body was discovered in the waters off the Mendocino County coast in April as Angela Geovanna Carrillo-Palomar, a 29-year-old from Fort Bragg, CA, through DNA analysis.
As per a press release issued by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, the body was first reported on April 26, 2024, when MCSO deputies received a call about a possible human body floating south of Fort Bragg. Local first responders, including the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and California State Parks, assisted in the recovery. Due to the challenging ocean conditions, the decedent was transported to Noyo Harbor.
During the initial coroner’s investigation, deputies could not identify the body due to a lack of distinguishing marks. However, based on the clothing, the decedent was suspected to be an adult female.
On May 1, 2024, a Coroner’s Investigative Technician attended the autopsy, where a DNA sample was obtained. The physical characteristics of the deceased matched a missing person report filed with the Fort Bragg Police Department on April 14, 2024. With this potential lead, the Sheriff’s Office collected familial DNA samples from the missing person’s family for comparison.
The samples were sent to the Department of Justice DNA Lab in Richmond, CA. On July 3, 2024, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Division was notified that the DNA sample matched Angela Geovanna Carrillo-Palomar.
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information related to this investigation to contact their Dispatch Center at 707-463-4086 or provide anonymous tips through the non-emergency tip-line at 707-234-2100.
Information regarding the missing person investigation can be provided directly to the Fort Bragg Police Department at 707-964-0200.
People don’t know what to say when a beautiful woman is found dead with no answers….
The silence is deafening. We all know someone raped and killed her, because this happens SO often, is the plot for COUNTLESS stories, movies, epics, and yet we have no education for young people on having healthy relationships. None. Zero words. Zero comments. Blind eyes. Taped mouths. The sexual brutality of men completely ignored, naturalized and forgiven, always. Always.
That is purely speculative. There is no evidence of that. Your unfounded claims likely do more harm than good.
That’s exactly what women are constantly told. “Prove it”.
I am speculating, and I’m sorry, but I’m not the only one.
If that didn’t happen, then seriously we need to make the cliffsides along the coast safer, cause people just be walking off left and right.
Leave the family to their own speculation.
Maybe turn the comments off when there is loss of life ?
Do you mean turn off the comments about loss of female life with suspicious circumstances, or all lives lost? Cause then we’d just be reading the paper and talking about it with our friends? Women think some men have a seriously scary anger/sex issues and need help. We need to talk about it! This isn’t new! It’s just never allowed to be discussed
Write a letter to the editor and make your case.
There is evidence of a domestic violence case filed by her. There should be questions as to how she died. Ignoring those questions does more harm than good.
What is sad here is that the family reported her missing on April 14 2024. No where on their FBPD Facebook do they share or mention this missing girl. The FBPD Chief is too busy making videos of himself falling in a swimming pool. If it doesn’t involve him he doesn’t want to post that would require taken up Cervenkas time on social media. This clown needs to go back home
Perhaps it is too much to ask of the people that frequently air their negativity and assumptions, but wouldn’t it be more appropriate to offer condolences and prayers at this time? There are plenty of social media outlets that thrive on accusatory suggestions and BS….I just don’t feel like it serves any purpose.
To the family of the beautiful woman that lost her life: My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I wish you peace in your time of mourning, and hope you are able to find the answers you need for closure.
Looks like the commentary on the same article at mendovoice has similar assumptions along with a link to her Domestic Violence case . These comments are pure cognitive dissonance.
Now, can we all speculate on how the woman in Covelo in died and what moron built a burn pile? Is that ok?
My first comment must’ve touched a raw nerve for ya’ll or something, a nerve of truth, because no one said anything, not even loving comments, till I mentioned male brutality. Then it’s “not the time and place”.
