On July 10, 2024, at approximately 1:44 pm, officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Clear Lake Area, responded to a report of a solo vehicle collision on Bottle Rock  Road, north of Spring Hill Road, in an unincorporated area of Lake County, involving a  2006 white Toyota Scion. A preliminary investigation indicated the adult male driver (identification pending next-of-kin notification) was driving the Toyota northbound on  Bottle Rock Road, north of Spring Hill Road, at a high rate-of-speed. For reasons  pending further investigation, the driver lost control of the Toyota. The Toyota traveled  out of control in a northeasterly direction and traveled off of the east roadway edge. The  Toyota traveled down a descending embankment, overturned, and struck a tree east of  the roadway. The driver (sole occupant) was found ejected from the vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by CalFire.

Lake County Sheriff’s Department and Five Star Towing were summoned to the scene and assisted CHP. Bottle Rock Road, at this location, was reduced to one-way traffic control.

The driver was not wearing his safety belt during the collision and alcohol and/or drug use is not suspected to be a factor in this collision. The collision is being investigated by CHP Officer K. Brown.
