The following is a press release issued by Kubota Tractor Corporation:
As a continued commitment to its dealers, customers, and local communities, Kubota Tractor Corporation announced 20 grant recipients in its fourth annual Kubota Hometown Proud® grant program aimed at providing support across the country for local nonprofit organizations and their unique initiatives. This year, the company is proud to announce that Ag Alley, a project nominated by Shanél Valley Academy and supported by local Kubota dealer Garton Tractor is one of those winners. Each of the 20 hometown projects now goes up for a public vote,* and the project with the most votes in each district will turn its $10,000 grant into a $50,000 grant.
Shanél Valley Academy (SVA) is a rural community school located in Hopland, California, that has identified youth in the community as lacking access to land and extracurricular opportunities. SVA envisions a future where they can engage youth (5- to 18-year-olds) with programs that provide opportunities for learning, leadership, and success within their community and throughout their lives through the California 4-H Youth Development Program. Their Ag Alley program would pave the way for local Hopland youth to participate in 4-H, providing the infrastructure and outdoor space for students to raise animals onsite, helping to develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies necessary for fulfilling, contributing adult lives.
With the $10,000 Kubota grant, SVA will create a five-year sponsorship fund to help community youth with their 4-H program including project fees and County Fair entry fees. If they are to receive the $50,000 grant, SVA will continue building its livestock pens with fencing, shade structures, and equipment for the 4-H market animal program.
