A driver sustained major injuries this afternoon, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, after their vehicle careened off a cliff along State Route 20, west of Willits.
The incident was reported at approximately 4:05 p.m., according to scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page. A witness alerted dispatch after observing the vehicle drive off a cliff between Willits and Fort Bragg.
First responders arrived to find the vehicle about 100 feet down the cliffside. Emergency crews successfully extricated the driver, who was then airlifted to an out-of-area hospital for treatment.
