Vegetation Fire Breaks Out West of Lower Lake

The Siegler Fire, as seen from an AlertCalifornia Fire Camera

Firefighters are responding to a vegetation fire that ignited Wednesday evening in the 10500 block of Seigler Canyon Road, west of Lower Lake.

The blaze, dubbed the Seigler Fire, began around 6:34 p.m. in light, flashy fuels. CAL FIRE tweeted that the fire has burned approximately one acre and is spreading at a moderate rate.

Heard via the scanner, air attack resources confirmed that the fire is burning in grassy oak woodlands.

Multiple air resources have been deployed as crews from CAL FIRE and local agencies work to contain the fire.

UPDATE 7:09 p.m.: The Incident Commander says the fire is contained. This means firefighters have built a solid line all the way around the blaze, keeping it from spreading any further. While they’ll still be working inside the perimeter to put out hot spots and make sure nothing flares back up, the main danger of the fire jumping its lines and causing more damage has been stopped.
