The FBI executed a warrant early Tuesday morning, September 24, 2024, at a residence on Pepperwood Drive in Cloverdale, sparking a brief but intense scene in the normally quiet neighborhood.

Cloverdale Interim Police Chief Robert Stewart confirmed local officers were on hand solely due to the residence being within city limits. “This morning at approximately 6 a.m., the Cloverdale Police Department stood by as the FBI executed a warrant on Pepperwood Drive,” Stewart said. “The Cloverdale Police Officers were only at the location as the residence was within the City limits of Cloverdale. As this action is the result of an FBI investigation, we are unable to provide any specifics.”

Prentice Danner, a spokesman for the FBI’s San Francisco division, confirmed the federal agency’s involvement, stating, “The FBI conducted authorized law enforcement activity on Pepperwood Drive.”

A Nixle alert was issued to the community at 6:17 a.m., warning residents to avoid the area due to police activity. The message assured the public that there was “no threat to the community.”

One resident recounted the moment the FBI arrived. “I was awakened by the flash bombs. They were shouting through the PA system that it was the FBI, demanding they come out with their hands up. They didn’t come out immediately, so more flash bombs were set off,” the resident said. “The next time I went outside, the doors were all open, and they were in the house. There were guys in military cammies with auto weapons and a large van. Lots of plainclothes guys in street cars arrived a few minutes later.”

Authorities have not released further details about the investigation, and it remains unclear whether any arrests were made.
