A high-speed police chase spanning multiple locations, including Ukiah, Redwood Valley, and Potter Valley, ended in a crash late Friday night, resulting in two injuries and vehicle damage, authorities said.
The pursuit began at 11:45 p.m. on September 27, when law enforcement reported the vehicle exiting Highway 101 via State Route 20 driving east towards Lake County.
On the stretch of SR-20 that follows the northern shores of Lake Mendocino, the driver was reportedly accelerating to speeds of 100 miles per hour and crossing double yellows before peeling off towards Potter Valley.
The chase continued through Potter Valley Road and concluded near mile marker 5 on Eastside Potter Valley Road after the vehicle crashed. Photographs from the scene show a white sedan on its side.
At 12:01 a.m., California Highway Patrol and Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office units detained two male suspects, one of whom attempted to flee on foot through nearby woods. The other was held at gunpoint in the vehicle. Authorities said both men had prior interactions with law enforcement.
Emergency medical services were dispatched following the crash. At 12:16 a.m., responders requested additional equipment but confirmed they could manage the scene. Two patients were evaluated, one with a possible broken arm and another complaining of chest pain.
Thank you law enforcement.
THANK YOU LAW ENFORCEMENT!!!!
The fact that they thought running to Potter Valley was going to get them out of trouble is absolutely hilarious.
Almost candidates for the Darwin Awards.
FYI, James Belden, this is a news “article”, not a press release from law enforcement.
