Fort Bragg traffic stop uncovers meth, fentanyl, and brass knuckles

The following is a press release from the Fort Bragg Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On November 2, 2024, at approximately 5:25 AM, Fort Bragg Police Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 32000 block of SR-20 for a vehicle code violation. A records check confirmed the driver, Charles Gielow, 48, of Albion, had two outstanding felony arrest warrants and was on active PRCS (Post Release Community Supervision) out of Mendocino County.

During a search of Gielow, officers discovered $1,500 in cash in his wallet. A search of the vehicle revealed brass knuckles, narcotic packaging materials, a digital scale, approximately 50 tablets of Buprenorphine, and 9 Buprenorphine Sublingual Films. Officers also found a magnetic box affixed to the engine compartment frame. Inside the box, they located 45.01 grams of methamphetamine, 13.40 grams of fentanyl, 6.96 grams of heroin, and 2 oxycodone tablets.

Gielow was questioned, arrested, and booked into the Mendocino County Jail with no bail for the following charges: 11366.8(A) H&S – Utilizing a false compartment/container to store narcotics (felony), 11378 H&S – Possession of methamphetamine for sale (felony), 11379 H&S – Transportation of methamphetamine for sale (felony), 11351 H&S – Possession of fentanyl for sale (felony), 11352(A) H&S – Transportation of fentanyl for sale (felony), 11364(A) H&S – Possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor), 21810 PC – Possession of brass knuckles (felony), 3455(A) PC – Violation of PRCS (felony), as well as his warrants.
