Two people were found dead Wednesday in a residence near Santa Rosa in what investigators are calling an apparent murder-suicide, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 2000 block of Weeks Ranch Road at approximately 12:19 p.m. on Nov. 27 to conduct a welfare check after a resident failed to show up for work.

When a deputy arrived, they found the home’s front door closed but unlocked, with lights on inside. After announcing their presence and receiving no response, the deputy entered the house around 1:30 p.m. and discovered two people deceased.

The Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Investigations unit and Crime Scene Investigations team were called to the scene to lead the investigation. While the deaths appear to be a murder-suicide, authorities said the investigation remains active as detectives review evidence and information.

The names of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The Sheriff’s Office stated that updates will be provided as more details emerge.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
