A fatal collision involving a big rig and a Lexus SUV claimed one life early Tuesday morning near Clearlake Oaks, authorities said.
Scanner traffic indicated the crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. on State Route 53 south of the roundabout. CHP officials confirmed one fatality at the scene and requested a coroner.
Details about the victim and the cause of the crash were not immediately available. Efforts to reach the Clearlake CHP office for additional information were unsuccessful as of the time of publication.

I was the last vehicle to go towards the Y that morning. This was a horrific accident and I heard the fire guy tell the boss, did you hear we have one fatality. I remember telling my friend, how sad to start the day with a death. I prayed for all those
involved but especiallyfor the family of the fatality victim. That’s no way to have a holiday and their Christmas will forever be glum because of the loss of life. I pray for peace for that family and I’m sorry for your loss.
