On 01/11/2025 at approximately 9:00pm a Ukiah Police Department (UPD) Officer was on routine patrol in the parking lot of Walmart, when he noticed a male in and around a pickup truck that had multiple California  Vehicle Code violations. The officer took note and it appeared that the male hastily walked away from the pickup upon seeing the officer.

A short time later the officer saw the male, who was identified as Dustin Bruce of Willits, CA, walk out of  Walmart and return to the vehicle. Multiple officers contacted Bruce to speak with him about the pickup truck and the violations. While speaking with Bruce, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the truck.

Officers began a probable cause search of Bruce’s person and located a bindle of methamphetamine. Inside the vehicle, officers found a loaded .22 caliber rifle, multiple rounds of ammunition in different calibers, and drug paraphernalia. A records check of Bruce’s criminal history informed the officers that Bruce was a convicted felon, prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Bruce also had multiple previous convictions for drug possession, making him in violation of California’s newly formed law 11395(b) H&S: unlawful possession of a hard drug with two or more prior convictions for possession (Prop. 36). Bruce was arrested and transported to the Mendocino County Jail where he was booked for four felony charges: 11370.1(a) H&S, 29800(a)(1) PC, 30305(a)(1) PC, and 11395(b) H&S. Bruce was also booked for misdemeanor charges of  25400(a) PC and 11364(a) H&S.

As always, UPD’s mission is to make Ukiah as safe a place as possible and rid the community of unlawfully possessed firearms and weapons. 1. I am a Mendocino native born in Wililts, raised in Westport and graduated from Fort Bragg High School in 1972. I’ve been living on the East coast for the last 40 years.

Your publication allows me to stay connected to my roots.

    • I hope your roots don’t include convicted felons, drug abusers, and folks taking guns and ammo in their pickup trucks while doing a little shopping at one or another of the upscale MallWarts.

  2. There are many reasons not to shop at Walmart. The above is why I don’t shop at the Ukiah Walmart. The Clearlake location is tame in comparison.

    • Lol clearlake is californias butt hole. We live equidistant and seldom go to clearlake a city if low esteem lacking manners. Wife almost carjacjed there awhile back.

      • I was only referring to Walmart parking lots, not the towns themselves. That bit between Jack in the Box and Walmart in Ukiah is f’ed up!

        • The homeless encampments between Jack in the box and Walmart has been cleared out for a while now. Plus Walmart remodeled the building and interior.

  3. So glad Willits PD has nothing better to do than patrol Walmart looking for mundane vehicle code violations. Patrolling private property looking for suspicious activity and stopping random people is just what America needs to become great again. I’m hoping eventually the police everywhere will be going on everyone’s property looking for violations and arrest them for petty shit.

    • Right, because Willits has a Walmart…sure.

I guess reading comprehension isn’t counted as one of your skills. Surprise surprise.

      • Didn’t I say that I’d be dictator on day one nutsack? I could care less what town the cops are from or where the Walmart is, just have the cops beat the piss out of everyone while looking through their trash for expired food to serve to school kids.

              • I’m currently in Washington DC turd face but i frequently call Russia for instructions. In order to make America great again we must follow the edicts of the great comrade Vladimir Putin for the best way to complete the oligarchy and rip everyone off while letting my superior Elon Musk throw the sieg heil just to prove how dumb you all are.

  4. The other day at Ukiah Walmart an older couple was walking their dog in the store (don’t even get me started) when I kid you not the dog starts shitting while walking. The lady looks down, sees it, and keeps walking. I make my way out and on the way an employee was standing gaurd over more shit so that no one stepped in it. I told her I saw it happen, that there was more over there…
She asked me “Did you see, was it, was it a dog?”
I said yes, and asked her what else would it be?
Never mind I don’t want to know and I’m now scared of Walmart for reals.
