Lear Asset Management, the Mendocino-based private security firm long known for clashing with cannabis growers and forest activists, is now facing criminal charges after five of its operatives—including CEO Paul Trouette—violently removed protester Teresa Borrenpohl from a February GOP town hall in Idaho. Borrenpohl, a former Democratic candidate, was dragged face-down through the aisle by men with no visible security ID. The city of Coeur d’Alene has since revoked Lear’s business license, and Borrenpohl has filed a $5 million civil claim alleging physical assault and violations of her constitutional rights.
When I reached out to CEO Paul Trouette for comment, he replied: “You are not a trustworthy reporter, we have no intention of giving you anything, so you can just spin. Let’s see if you print that.” I’m grateful to my editors at SFGATE for backing me up and letting that quote speak for itself. They (Lear asset Management) think they are law enforcement, during the protests in Jackson Demonstration Forest, we faced them down many times, lots of threats, bullying tactics, threats of arrest, on state property they have no such policing powers.
They did not get physical with any of us, they did use verbale threats, intimidation tactics, the only reason it did not escalate to physical violence was because we were on state property.
Encounters on private properties the potential for violence was ever present, they all carried weapons in the open like wannabe vigilantes.
To be clear we never saw a weapon during our encounters on state property, we did see handcuffs, pepper spray, and zip ties. No physical contact.
At one area masked men that were suspected as associates aproched a lone woman, made verbale threats and threw empty shell casing at her.
California needs to pull their licenses.

Yes, absolutely, the security should have had some sort of identifier on their uniforms, as the Idaho law states. And they should be held accountable for not having that. But that’s all they did wrong here.

Officer James is dishonest immoral and entitled. I heard a lot about him in the short time he was a cop but I won’t spread rumors unlike him. Initially it reminded me of a tabloid, at one point i realized something was missing. The climax which never arrived was Jerry Springer arriving on screen and let Mr James know that Mr Trouette was in fact his father. He did it in Austin Powers why not would he miss this internet satire?
