A 23-year-old Fort Bragg man was arrested Tuesday morning after law enforcement officers executed search warrants at two homes tied to suspected gang activity, according to a press release from the Fort Bragg Police Department.
Christopher Morgan was taken into custody without incident around 7 a.m. on the 300 block of Cypress Street, officials said. A subsequent search of his residence on the 200 block of East Chestnut Street turned up a loaded, unregistered .38 Special revolver stashed in a location accessible to a child, along with gang-related clothing, paraphernalia and electronic evidence, according to the release.
The operation was carried out in coordination with SWAT teams from the Mendocino and Lake County Sheriff’s Offices as part of a weeks-long investigation into rising gang-related violence and graffiti in the region, the release stated.
A second home in the 800 block of Myrtle Street was also searched, though no arrests were made at that location.
“This operation was the result of weeks of joint investigation and interagency cooperation aimed at disrupting gang activity threatening the safety of our communities,” Fort Bragg Police Chief Neil Cervenka said in the press release.
Morgan was booked into Mendocino County Jail on multiple charges, including child endangerment, battery, criminal threats, unlawful firearm storage, and gang participation. Prosecutors also secured a bail enhancement, raising his bail to $100,000, the release said.
These charges have not been proven in a court of law, and Morgan is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
No injuries were reported during the raids, and the investigation remains active. Authorities say more arrests could follow.
Anyone with information related to gang activity in the Fort Bragg area is urged to contact Sergeant Frank at (707) 961-2800 ext. 223.
Get’em boys.
Uh oh not Ben Davis and Michael Jordan!
What will become of our youth!?!
Sports and work apparel has lost control!
Help!
I can remember in the 70’s when Ben Davis ran for president and I had one of his coveted bumper stickers on my 1949 GMC pickup truck.
The boy at McNabbs menswear in Ukiah were giving them out to friends and customers.
The world sure has changed…You might get swatted in these times.
These hooligans are out of control. What a fine sight to see the mighty heros at fbpd cleaning up our streets. These darn shenanigans have left me sleepless and fearing for my well being as a gay elderly man. If these gangs are so brutal I fear a horrific hate act might befall me. No Siree!
