Books, culture, and community come together at Ukiah’s first-ever Children’s Book Fair, happening this Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas.

Families can meet local authors and illustrators from Ukiah and beyond, get autographs, and enjoy live story readings. The free event also features a book swap, writing contest, fun games, arts and crafts, and tasty vegetarian food.

Cultural performances include Taiko drumming, Mexican folk dancing, and a colorful dragon and lion dance. Kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite book characters and be part of the celebration.

Admission and parking are free. All are welcome to join this vibrant day of storytelling and cultural connection in one of Mendocino County’s most iconic settings.

  1. This place and residence is a gem of cross culture learning and enrichment. While visuting 25 years ago a refuge nun (possibly Laotan) was enamored with my blonde haired 4 year old son. Her demeanor was of pure kindness, i wont firget the chance encounter.
