
A 63-year-old man died Thursday morning after his kayak overturned off the shore of Clearlake Oaks, according to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies, including Marine Patrol units, responded to the incident around 9 a.m. on May 22. With assistance from the North Shore Dive Team, the man was located deceased in the water, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities noted that the man was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident. His identity has not been released, as next of kin are still being notified.
The official cause of death will be determined following an autopsy, according to the release.
