The following is a press release issued by MEDIUM Art Center:

MEDIUM Art Center (formerly Deep Valley Arts Collective) invites the community to
experience Consume, a juried group exhibition exploring the many dimensions of
consumption, both literal and abstract. This show will open during the First Friday Art
Walk in downtown Ukiah.
Artists were encouraged to interpret the theme broadly. Submissions will reflect on
consumer culture, appetite, material waste, capitalism, addiction, sustainability, or
the psychological and environmental impacts of consumption. Work will also
approach the theme through assemblage or reuse, where the act of consuming
becomes part of the creative process, transforming discarded objects into new visual
narratives.
An opening reception will be held on First Friday, June 6th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. during Ukiah’s First Friday Art Walk. Invite your friends and family to a fun
community event that supports the arts.
There will be music, light food, and drinks.
There will be a community interactive consumption-themed project that begins at the
opening and continues throughout the show’s duration. Bring your (clean) waste to
pin to the piece – for example: store receipts, packaging, tchotchkes, discarded mail,
old clothing, etc.
- Opening reception: Friday, June 6th, 2025, 5:00-8:00 PM PDT.
- The show runs through Saturday, June 28th, 2025.
- Medium Art Center – 518 East Perkins Street, Ukiah, in the Pear Tree Center
