
A white Chevrolet pickup truck slammed into a tree along the southbound lanes of Highway 101 just north of Hopland early Thursday morning, prompting an air ambulance to be requested to land directly on the highway, according to emergency radio traffic.
The single-vehicle crash was first reported at 7:02 a.m., with initial reports describing the truck as a white Chevrolet long bed with major front-end damage.
The Incident Commander reported the driver had sustained major injuries and required extrication. Due to the severity of the crash, an air ambulance was requested to land on the highway to expedite transport to a trauma center.
The Caltrans QuickMap indicates that traffic is already slowing in the area. Delays could increase as emergency operations continue.
