A late-night traffic stop on May 24 led to the arrest of two Mendocino County residents after Ukiah police discovered a loaded firearm and a commercial quantity of marijuana in their vehicle, according to a press release issued by the Ukiah Police Department.

The stop occurred around 11 p.m. in the 900 block of Helen Avenue after an officer observed a Ford Mustang roll through a stop sign in downtown Ukiah. Inside the car were 19-year-old Ivan Anthony Aguilar of Ukiah and a 17-year-old male from Willits.

Police say Aguilar initially gave officers a false name but was eventually identified. While speaking with the pair, the officer reportedly noticed several pounds of marijuana behind the driver’s seat. A search of the vehicle turned up roughly $1,000 in cash, marijuana packaged for sale, and a loaded .38 Special revolver, the department said.

Both Aguilar and the juvenile were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, possession of marijuana for sale, and weapons violations. Aguilar was booked into the Mendocino County Jail, and the juvenile was taken to Juvenile Hall.

The case lists the People of the State of California as the victim.

As of publication, the charges have not been adjudicated, and both individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. As a certified person of the state of California I resent being named a victim here. The real victims are the two knuckleheads who thought it was a good idea to roll around with pounds and a firearm after dark without even putting stuff in the trunk. Never do a run in a car without a trunk bozos! Victims of their own brazen stupidity. Good luck.

  2. This is all Govenor Newsome’s fault for conspiring to start the fires in Canada, now there is a shortage of cannabis. The Cartels are going to have to step up and do a better job. And now with the tariffs, these kids won’t even be able to afford toxic chemicals or ammunition for their ghost guns. Where’s Marjorie Talor Greene now when we need her? Are we going to melt down pennies for materials for the wall that Mexico already paid for? Are we going to make people from California wear a C on their shirts, so we know who they are? Are we going to pardon insurrectionists to pick lettuce. Gee whiz, I’m going to run for Govenor of Greenland and if elected, I will not serve! Thanks for your support, Elon.
